The competition comprises two groups of eight teams, with four teams from each division in each group. The teams in each group only play the four teams from the other division. The top team from each division in each group qualifies for the semi finals. The draw was made as follows:

Group 1:
Division One teams - New Wellington, The Exiles, Medical Research Council, Darley Stud.
Division Two teams - The Griffin, The Yard, Kennett & Kentford Reserves, Wellcome/CRC.

Group 2:
Division One teams - Johnson Matthey, Genetics, The Zebra, The Alexandra Crew.
Division Two teams - Exning Road Club, Cambridge Cosmos Thirds, Long Rangers, Chippenham.

The knockout stage is as follows:
