The Cambridge and District Friendly League was founded with football teams who played each other in friendlies from time to time. The teams played each other more often and then structured a fixture list, and the Friendly League was created. The matches are competitive but the spirit of friendliness and enjoyment are to the forefront.
In the 2011-2012 season there are 16* teams divided into two Divisions. Each team in a division play each other team in their division twice, and the teams from the other division once, as part of their league fixtures. There are also cup competitions to compete in. The teams in each Division in 2011-2012 are
